Facility Needs and Future Facility Planning


One of the District's Strategic Plan goals was to conduct a facility needs assessment which was completed in the 2015-2016 school year by the architectural firm of Tower Pinkster and to gather input from the community on the results of the findings.

Needs were identified in the following areas: additional classroom space; health & safety; improvements to existing buildings; pool; and athletic facilities; all totaling approximately $50 million.

Key challenges for the district’s facilities include whether to invest in upgrading Pine Street Elementary, need for additional classroom space due to enrollment growth, potential changes to which grades are assigned to which schools, replacing the pool, and other athletic facilities’ needs.

On June 8, 2016, a community forum was held to review the results of the assessment and to gather input on future plans where over 150 people attended.  A Citizen's Advisory Committee made up of parents, staff and community members has been formed to help guide future facility decisions.
